Regionalization Memo
Overview
Starting in FY2020, there will be three new regions in DATIM: West Africa, Western Hemisphere, and Asia Region. The following regions will be archived and will no longer be used for data collection: Caribbean Region, Central America Region, Asia Regional Program, and Central Asia Region.
This document outlines the systems updates and impacts as a result of these changes.
Updated Regional Structure
Starting in FY20 (January 6, 2020) there will be three new regions represented within the organizational hierarchy. The four regions from FY19 and prior will not be removed from the hierarchy due to historical data, but they will not be open and available for data entry. These older regions will sit underneath the new regions to allow for easier access to that historical data.
The new regions exist as follows:
Under the Africa continent: West Africa
- Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo
Under the Americas continent: Western Hemisphere
- Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Barbados, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean Region (Archived), Central America Region (Archived)
Under the Asia continent: Asia Region
- China, Laos, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzebekistan, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Asia Regional Program (Archived), Central Asia Region (Archived)
There will also be some changes to the Military Org Units within the regions:
Military Org Units
Military Org Units will now exist only at the country level. In other words, for regions, Military Org Units will sit two levels below the region.
The Military Org Units that exist in the old regions will continue to exist under the old regions but will not be open for data entry.
User Access Changes
User access in DATIM will only change for users who are entering data into the new regions. All users who have access to a country within a region, will receive access to the entire region. For example, if a user previously had access to Ghana, that user will now have access to the West Africa Region, and all countries within.
Data Entry
For MER, all country level datasets will continue to sit at the country level.
Analytics Changes
Historical analytics will continue to be available, and new analysis will be developed with the new regions in mind.
Regionalization in Other PEPFAR Systems
Regionalization changes will be available in Genie for "daily" reports as of January 20, 2020.
Regionalization changes will be in Panorama / PAW and other platforms that contain "frozen" reports for FY20 Q1 Initial data on February 21, 2020.
