Obtaining PIV/CAC Certificate Information for Okta Sign-in (USG OGA Users)

Timothy Corey -

Okta USG users affiliated with other government agencies have the option to register their PIV or CAC certificates for Okta login.  Please utilize these steps to obtain your PIV/CAC certificates and submit them to the SE-ICAM to register your CAC or PIV to sign in to Okta.

1. Close ALL tabs for your web browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge).

2. Go to https://state.okta.com.

3. Click on the link "Sign in with PIV/CAC Card.” A pop-up will display requesting that you to "Select a certificate" (see Step 4).

4. Click on the certificate that you use to sign-in with and select "Certificate Information".  At DOS, we usually select the second "U.S. Government" issued certificate.

5. A new pop-up will appear with the details of the certificate.  Click on the "Details" tab of the certificate pop-up.

6. Scroll down and highlight the "Subject Alternative Name" field and take a screen shot.

7. Next, click on the "Certificate Path" tab on the certificate pop-up and take a screenshot of that.

8. You should have a total of two screenshots (from Step 6 and Step 7).  Please save these screenshots as PNG files, attach them to an email message, and send to seicam@state.gov.  Please specify "Add USG PIV/CAC Certificate to Okta Account" in the subject line and explain your USG agency affiliation in the email message.
